The Library is located on the second floor of the main building on the right of the Main entrance. There is no wheelchair access; however provision will be put in place for disabled persons, once the request is submitted at least two days in advance.
The Shilstone Memorial Library is closed access; all material must be requested through the Librarian. The Library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification System to organise its collections.
All visitors entering the Library are required to report to the Librarian to complete a registration card. First timers are required to read the Library regulations and must agree to abide by them before consulting any materials.
Readers must use only pencil. They must have clean hands and may not read or handle newspapers while waiting for books to be delivered. Gloves must be used with some materials, as directed by Library Staff.
Cameras and computers can be used only with the prior permission of the Library staff. Artificial lighting may not be used in the library.

Maps, Photographs, Plans and Art
Original documents, maps, photographs, postcards, estate plans and art, are managed by the curatorial staff. Requests to consult this material must be made at least three days in advance.
Requests for copies and permission to reproduce this material must be submitted to the Registrar for the Director’s authorization. Click here for Reproduction Request forms.
