Press Releases

On Wednesday, February 28th, we had the immense pleasure of launching the Bengal to Barbados digital project in collaboration with the Bengal to Barbados Foundation inc. and East Indian communities!

At the launch event held at the Barbados Museum & Historical Society, attendees were treated to a captivating display of historical objects from the Barbados Department of Archives, providing a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of our island. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the distinguished speakers and performances that graced the stage. We were honoured to have The Honourable Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office with Responsibility for Culture, deliver a thought-provoking feature address.

Additionally, Subir Gupta's heartfelt letter reading, Akshata Chugrani's mesmerizing poetry, and insightful remarks from representatives of the Barbados Museum and Bengal to Barbados Foundation truly made the event memorable.

Though His Excellency the High Commissioner of India to Barbados, Dr. Shankar Balachandran couldn't be with us in person, his recorded remarks added a touch of global connectivity to the occasion.

Now, the Bengal to Barbados digital project is LIVE! Explore the website at https://bengal-barbados.org/ to delve deeper into this fascinating initiative.
